Bishop McGuinness got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddie Taylor out in front who shot 55% from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Taylor a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Moore, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and four steals.
Bishop McGuinness smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 35 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, R.J. Reynolds made off with a 30-29 win over Mount Tabor. The 30-point effort marked the Demons' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
R.J. Reynolds' win came from a few key players Bishop McGuinness will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brianna Gordon, who posted ten points and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Beale, who scored 11 points and five rebounds.
Bishop McGuinness' record is now 4-1. As for R.J. Reynolds, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Tuesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Moore and Jane Welch. Moore has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 14.4 points, 3.6 steals, and 2.4 assists. For her part, Welch has averaged 7.7 points, 2.3 blocks, and 6.3 boards.
Everything came up roses for Bishop McGuinness against R.J. Reynolds in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, as the squad secured a 62-17 victory. In that game, the Villains amassed a halftime lead of 38-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
