Baseball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Addison Trail Blazers

The Lyons Lions will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Addison Trail Blazers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Addison Trail took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lyons, who comes in off a win.

Lyons made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Downers Grove South, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Lyons put the hurt on Downers Grove South with a sharp 18-9 victory on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Luke Nicholaus, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Georgelos, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Addison Trail had taken Glenbard North down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Addison Trail fell just short of Glenbard North by a score of 4-3.

Jonathon Valdez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Addison Trail saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Lyons took their win against Addison Trail in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-1. Does Lyons have another victory up their sleeve, or will Addison Trail turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
