Talon Camacho made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Camacho was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.
In other pitching news, Justin Kelly looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Mount Vernon let Hudson Grimsley and Sean Peterson run wild. Grimsley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Peterson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Grimsley's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Harry Sliger, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Mount Vernon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis only posted an OBP of .450.
Meanwhile, Edison earned a 5-2 victory over Falls Church on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won six in a row.
Mount Vernon's record now sits at 13-4. As for Edison, their record is now 10-5.
Mount Vernon skirted past Edison 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Majors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
