Basketball Recap: Westside Christian Academy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Westside Christian Academy had won six straight home games dating back to last season and Calvin Cottenden did his part to make it seven on Tuesday. The Westside Christian Academy Eagles breezed by Horizon Science Academy to the tune of 72-42 thanks in part to Cottenden, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Zhakunets, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Westside Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Horizon Science Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Westside Christian Academy will face off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Horizon Science Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Northeast Ohio College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Horizon Science Academy is facing Northeast Ohio College Prep at the right time seeing as Northeast Ohio College Prep is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
