Softball Recap: Rocky Ford's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Rocky Ford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lamar Thunder a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The Meloneers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6th (when they won 14-4).

Not much got past Alexis Baca, who gave up just four hits to keep Lamar off the board. Baca has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alysia Marquez, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Benni Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Rocky Ford's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18. As for Lamar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

Rocky Ford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lamar, they will face off against Brush at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Beetdiggers have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
