Softball Recap: Johnson City Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

Johnson City won against Goldthwaite last Tuesday with 22 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Johnson City's pitcher stepped up to hand the Mason Punchers a 22-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won 12 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bo Crownover was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Johnson City got a massive performance out of Emaleigh Davis, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs Davis has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Haley, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Johnson City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Johnson City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-1-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Mason and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Johnson City will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mason: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
