Lyons waltzed into their game on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Wray/Yuma Eagles. Considering the Lions have won 13 contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Gretta Wynja was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lyons got a massive performance out of Ava Vasquez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Vasquez continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Greta Hildebrand also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wray/Yuma only posted an OBP of .000.
Lyons' record now sits at 18-5. As for Wray/Yuma, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 13-11 record.
Lyons didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 loss against Lamar on the 18th. Wray/Yuma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
