Softball Recap: Seymour Gets the Win

Seymour came out on top against Holy Cross on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Wildcats walked away with a 9-4 win over the Crusaders. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Cassidy Marcinczyk was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Seymour got a big performance out of Rachael DeAngelis, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Daphne Shea, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Seymour's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Holy Cross, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Seymour will head out to square off against Crosby at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.56 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Holy Cross, they will head out on the road to take on Ansonia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
