Softball Recap: Alden-Hebron Green Giants vs. South Beloit Sobos
Alden-Hebron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 23-8 to the South Beloit Sobos. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Alden-Hebron of the 8-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April.
Jessica Webber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Reiter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.
On South Beloit's side, Whitney Schnack was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Schnack has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Schnack was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Zorah Martin was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Fago, who went 3-for-3 with seven RBI, a run, and a double.
Alden-Hebron's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for South Beloit, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Alden-Hebron will head out on the road to face off against Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Alden-Hebron is facing Lutheran at the right time seeing as Lutheran is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. South Beloit does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
