Soccer Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe vs. Columbus Academy

The Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies will be taking part in a tournament against the Columbus Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Johnstown-Monroe will be strutting in after a victory while Columbus Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Johnstown-Monroe barely beat Northridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Johnnies were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Vikings on Thursday. Considering Johnstown-Monroe have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Columbus Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Whitehall-Yearling.

The win made it two in a row for Johnstown-Monroe and bumps their season record up to 9-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those two matchups. As for Columbus Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
