Football Game Preview: Madison Dragons vs. Twin River Titans

Madison hasn't had much luck against Twin River recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. Madison will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Madison is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against David City on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Dragons were beaten by the Scouts 64-30. The Dragons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-18.

Defeat or not, Madison got some senior leadership from Bodonn Sweeney and Izac Zautke. Sweeney rushed for 186 yards and one score, while Zautke picked up 68 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, Sweeney is now averaging an impressive 104.7 rushing yards per game.

Meanwhile, Twin River played in-conference for the first time on Friday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against Newman Grove/St. Edward by a score of 36-28.

Twin River's win came from a few key players Madison will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colsten Rodriguez, who rushed for 41 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Those 170 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braedyn Ramaekers, who picked up 110 receiving yards and two scores.

The victory got Twin River back to even at 3-3. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Madison was dealt a bruising 54-8 defeat at the hands of Twin River when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Dragons, Paydon Rinkol (who rushed for 289 yards and five TDs while picking up 18.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
