Basketball Recap: Jayce Medlin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ware Shoals over Mccormick

Ware Shoals lost against McCormick back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ware Shoals Hornets took a 70-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McCormick Chiefs. The Hornets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Ware Shoals lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jayce Medlin, who posted 22 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jace Stewart, who earned 22 points.

McCormick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Terrence Cartledge, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. Cartledge is becoming a predictor of McCormick's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 9-3 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). J'Varis Adams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Ware Shoals' defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for McCormick, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Ware Shoals will welcome Thornwell at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Ware Shoals is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season. As for McCormick, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-51 victory against Calhoun Falls Charter on the 31st.
