Basketball Recap: Mitchell County Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Mitchell County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 78-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dougherty Trojans on Saturday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Dougherty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcus Heath, who posted 28 points. Another player making a difference was Mikel Roberts, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Dougherty now has a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Mitchell County will host Early County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The contest will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Dougherty, they will square off against Eastside at 5:30 p.m. on the 24th.
