Football Game Preview: Ste. Genevieve Dragons vs. Valle Catholic Warriors

Ste. Genevieve is 1-9 against Valle Catholic since August of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Ste. Genevieve had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-point drubbing they dealt Central on Friday. The Dragons breezed past the Rebels to the tune of 35-7. That looming 35-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dragons yet this season.

Ste. Genevieve's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Ferranto, who threw for 194 yards and four TDs on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 50 yards. Those 194 passing yards gave Ferranto a new career-high. Wyatt Grein was Ferranto's top target, picking up 56 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 85 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Valle Catholic's game on Friday was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 23-13 win over Caruthersville. The 23-point effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Ste. Genevieve's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Valle Catholic, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
