New Milford came into Friday's game looking for another win against Stratford, but Blake Merfalen wouldn't allow it. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Green Wave with a sharp 50-28 win on Friday for which the team can thank Merfalen, who threw for 259 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Stratford's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-5 otherwise.

Stratford's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5. As for New Milford, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. After each having a week off, Stratford and Bunnell will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so the Red Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for New Milford, they will head out to take on New Fairfield at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th.
