Baseball Preview: Gulf Buccaneers vs. Fivay Falcons

Gulf is on a three-game streak of home losses, Fivay a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Gulf Buccaneers will take on the Fivay Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gulf will be strutting in after a victory while Fivay will be coming in after a loss.

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Gulf brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They put the hurt on Seven Rivers Christian with a sharp 13-7 win on Friday. The victory was just what Gulf needed coming off of a 16-0 defeat in their prior matchup.

Rowan Graziano made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Graziano has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Graziano was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base.

In other batting news, Gulf got a big performance out of Niko Haskas, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Daniel Cruz was another key contributor, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run.

Meanwhile, Fivay suffered a tough 11-1 loss at the hands of Hudson on Thursday.

The win got Gulf back to even at 6-6. As for Fivay, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
