Softball Game Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Clyde Fliers

Sandusky is 0-5 against Clyde since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Streaks will challenge the Fliers at 6:15 p.m. Sandusky is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Sandusky took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Perkins, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Streaks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates on Wednesday, sneaking past 6-4. The win was nothing new for the Blue Streaks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kaylee Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maijon Wiley was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Makayla Popke was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, while Clyde put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Bellevue. The Fliers blew past the Redmen 10-0. Considering the Fliers have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Clyde has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Sandusky, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Sandusky might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Clyde in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Blue Streaks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
