Baseball Recap: Lincoln Lutheran Has No Trouble Against Falls City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Lutheran). They blew past the Falls City Tigers 15-3 on Monday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Owen Holle and Dane Portsche made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Holle struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Portsche tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave Holle a new career-high. At bat, Holle scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Portsche went 2-for-4 with one RBI. That run was Holle's first of the season.

In other pitching news, Brecken Mumaugh looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Cornell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolt Fiddler, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Lincoln Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lincoln Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Falls City, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln Lutheran will challenge Thurston-Cuming County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Falls City, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Falls City Tigers face off against Louisville Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
