Swallows Charter Academy suffers 12th straight loss at home

Recap: Swallows Charter Academy Spartans vs. Peyton Panthers

The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell 68-59 to Peyton. While losing is never fun, Swallows Charter Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Peyton is ranked 109th).

Despite the defeat, Swallows Charter Academy saw an underclassman step up: Christian Garcia dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Garcia scored 15 or more points. Andrew Breedlove was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.

Swallows Charter Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Leading Peyton to victory were Ayden Breese and Michael Perry. Breese scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Perry scored 24 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Perry hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Gatti, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Swallows Charter Academy's defeat was their 12th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Peyton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Swallows Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Swink at 2:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Swink is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Peyton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Fountain Valley at 7:00 p.m.
