Softball Recap: Chilton County Snags 18th Win in Last 21 Games

After only two runs in their last game, Chilton County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Montgomery Catholic on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 12-8 win over the Knights. Considering the Tigers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Brianna Goggins and Ishunti Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Goggins scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Brown scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Goggins has posted since back in March. Macey Pierce was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Chilton County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matches.

Chilton County is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 21 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5-2 record this season. As for Montgomery Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, Chilton County and Montgomery Catholic will both be playing Hewitt-Trussville the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
