Baseball Game Preview: Benton Academy Raiders vs. Puckett Wolves

The Benton Academy Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Puckett Wolves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Benton Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight defeats, while Puckett will come in with three straight victories.

Benton Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Yazoo County by a score of 6-5 on Friday.

Meanwhile, everything went Puckett's way against Pelahatchie on Friday as Puckett made off with an 11-2 win. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Truitte Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Rankin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Mj Parker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Puckett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pelahatchie only managed five hits.

Benton Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Puckett, their record now sits at 8-1.
