Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Vista). They blew past the Nogales Apaches, posting a 61-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Thunder as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyler Drunasky, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only ten carries, and also picked up 48 receiving yards. Henry Williams was in the mix as well, providing the Thunder with two touchdowns.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Desert Vista, adding 17 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jaeden Williams, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6. As for Nogales, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Coming up, Desert Vista will take on Corona del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nogales does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
