Basketball Recap: Alexandria Beats Sauk Rapids-Rice for Their Ninth Straight Win

Alexandria had won eight straight games and Chase Thompson did his part to make it nine on Friday. The Alexandria Cardinals walked away with a 101-88 win over the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm thanks in part to Thompson, who went 13 for 25 on his way to 41 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Gavin Roderick was another key player, going 9 of 17 en route to 22 points. His evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Alexandria pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.9 points. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Alexandria and Sauk Rapids-Rice should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. Alexandria will square off against Delano at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 153 places (15 vs. 168). Meanwhile, Sauk Rapids-Rice (ranked 28th) will meet Brainerd (ranked 139th) at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
