Baseball Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the Ninety Six Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Finn Howard put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

Howard wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Swancey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Swancey also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

Emerald's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3-1.

Coming up, Emerald will square off against Silver Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ninety Six, they will take on South Aiken at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
