Football Recap: Cozad Runs Past Minden + How To Watch

The matchup between Cozad and Minden on Friday hardly resembled the 20-7 effort from their previous meeting. The Haymakers enjoyed a cozy 45-28 win over the Whippets. The Haymakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Whippets, too.

Olliver Davis produced another solid effort rushing for 158 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 131 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 56 yards. Cozad also got a significant boost from Bryson Snider, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cozad was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 95.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 159.7.

Logan Verbeck and Parker Hatch certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Verbeck rushed for 105 yards and a pair of scores, while Hatch rushed for 116 yards and one TD on only 14 carries.

Cozad now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Minden, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

As of now, neither Cozad nor the Whippets have any future games scheduled.
