Football Recap: Royal Comes Up Short

Royal extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-6. They had to suffer through a 42-6 loss at the hands of the Moorpark Musketeers. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Musketeers are ranked 183rd).

Griffin Perry threw for 80 yards on three of nine attempts. Aidan Moses was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards.

As for Moorpark, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Musketeers, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.

While passing duties were split, you can't argue with the impact Logan Moon and Blake Davidson both made on the matchup. Moon threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes while Davidson picked up 53 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Moon a new career-high in passer rating (141.1).

Royal has already played their next contest, a 41-20 loss against Oak Park on the 30th. As for Moorpark, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 49-16 victory against Buena on the 30th.
