The Scott Eagles will face off against the Cooper Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scott has given up an average of 41.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Scott fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Boone County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels. The Eagles were up 20-6 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Trey Cook, who threw for 183 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jayden Dodd, who picked up 110 receiving yards and one score.
Meanwhile, Cooper humbled Dixie Heights with a 42-13 victory. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Colonels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Scott better keep an eye on Keagan Maher. He was instrumental in Cooper's win, rushing for 173 yards and three touchdowns. They are undefeated when Maher posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Cam O'Hara was another key signal caller, throwing for 158 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cooper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
One reason for the win was Cooper's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dax Bolen, Matvei Artiushkevich, and Carson Clark, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Dixie Heights' side was Bolen, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
Cooper now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Scott, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Scott took a serious blow against Cooper when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 41-0. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
