Basketball Recap: Bandys Gets the Win

Newton-Conover came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Bandys, but Landon Vaughan wouldn't allow it. The Bandys Trojans strolled past the Newton-Conover Red Devils with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 70-54 thanks in part to Vaughan, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played.

Brady Swett was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Newton-Conover's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Mitchell, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Eckard, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Bandys' record is now 10-3. As for Newton-Conover, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Bandys didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 94-70 defeat against Maiden on the 15th. Newton-Conover has also already played their next game, a 68-38 victory against Bunker Hill on the 17th.
