Baseball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Calipatria on April 14th, Palo Verde Valley came back down to earth. The Yellow Jackets fell 9-6 to the Southwest EC Eagles on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellow Jackets of the 14-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Drew Wright made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Pellegrini, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Palo Verde Valley dropped their record down to 12-9-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Southwest EC, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

While Palo Verde Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
