Volleyball Recap: Larissa Franco Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cortez

Yuma hadn't done well against Cortez recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Criminals came out on top against the Colts by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Criminals: when they faced off against the Colts on October 3rd, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

The win didn't come easy: Cortez scored at least 20 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yuma to victory, but perhaps none more so than Larissa Franco, who had five digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Franco a new career-high in assists (44). Another player making a difference was Jennavecia Guzman, who had 16 digs and five aces.

Yuma's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Cortez, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.

Yuma wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Tempe on the 29th. As for Cortez, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Dysart on the 29th.
