Softball Recap: Pioneer Gets the Win

Pioneer's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Gunderson Grizzlies 13-1. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gina Scripoch made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Pioneer got a big performance out of Cara Goodrich, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Kassandra Andalon was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Pioneer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Pioneer's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Pioneer will be playing in front of their home fans against Independence at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gunderson, they will be taking part in a tournament against Notre Dame at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
