Basketball Game Preview: Sugar-Salem Diggers vs. Butte County Pirates + How To Watch

The Sugar-Salem Diggers will head out on the road to face off against the Butte County Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Sugar-Salem earned a 59-50 win over Bear Lake. The victory continues a trend for the Diggers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Andee Petterson had an outrageously good game as she shot 44% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. Those 23 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalena Dayley, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Butte County on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Valley out of the water with a 71-24 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Pirates had established a 46-point advantage.

Sugar-Salem's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Butte County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Everything came up roses for Sugar-Salem against Butte County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Diggers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
