Volleyball Recap: Augusta Christian Comes Up Short

Augusta Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Cardinal Newman Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-3, 25-7, 25-8.

Leading Cardinal Newman to victory were Emily Cantey and Lauren Rivers. Cantey had eight digs and three aces, while Rivers hit 71.4% for five kills and seven digs and five aces. Rivers has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last nine times she's played.

Augusta Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Cardinal Newman, they pushed their record up to 39-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Augusta Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Newman, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph's Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
