Football Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Lafayette Central Catholic extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were dealt a 40-7 defeat at the hands of the Rensselaer Central Bombers. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bombers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Lafayette Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from Mason Meister, who rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Meister's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards.

As for Rensselaer Central, their record now sits at 4-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Leading Rensselaer Central to victory were Carter Ogborn and Landen Musch. Ogborn rushed for 220 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, while Musch rushed for 67 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Those 220 rushing yards gave Ogborn a new career-high.

Lafayette Central Catholic has already played their next contest, a 49-7 defeat against Tipton on the 3rd. As for Rensselaer Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 51-0 victory against Benton Central on the 3rd.
