Football Recap: West Skates Past East Bakersfield with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West). They blew past the East Bakersfield Blades, posting a 43-13 victory. With the Vikings ahead 28-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

A big part of West's win came down to the chemistry between Solomon Harris and his top target Jamarr Price. Harris rushed for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries while Price rushed for 117 yards and two scores on only eight carries. Harris is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Despite the loss, East Bakersfield still got an impressive performance from Mason Manabat, who rushed for 78 yards and one TD on only five carries. Manabat also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making six total tackles (2.0 for loss).

West pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.3 points over those games. As for East Bakersfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-15 defeat against North on the 31st. As for East Bakersfield, they have also already played their next contest, a 25-20 victory against Del Oro on the 30th.
