Football Game Preview: Okolona Chieftains vs. West Tallahatchie Choctaws + Official Tickets

The Okolona Chieftains are taking a road trip to take on the West Tallahatchie Choctaws at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Tallahatchie took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Okolona, who comes in off a win.

Okolona will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points last Friday, then bounced right back against Vardaman on Thursday. The Chieftains came out on top against the Rams by a score of 34-26. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Chieftains' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Okolona's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylen Jennings, who rushed for 44 yards and two scores, and also threw for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes. Jaiden Grady was in the mix too, providing the Chieftains with two TDs.

Okolona didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaiydence Herron and Grady.

Meanwhile, West Tallahatchie entered their contest against Leflore County on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Choctaws fell 34-26 to the Tigers.

West Tallahatchie's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Okolona, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6.
