Baseball Recap: Coginchaug Regional Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Coginchaug Regional dropped their record down to 7-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morgan Huskies. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Morgan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

For Morgan's part, Nathan Levy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Levy a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Dom Larabee was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Looking ahead, Coginchaug Regional will square off against Cromwell at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Morgan, they will face off against Old Saybrook at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
