Football Game Preview: St. Albans Bulldogs vs. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints

The St. Albans Bulldogs will square off against the St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, St. Albans put up the most points they have all season on Saturday. They really took it to Bullis for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-16 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering St. Albans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in District of Columbia, while Bullis is ranked 28th in Maryland).

St. Albans' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Martin, who rushed for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Martin has posted since back in November of 2024. Brett Paukstis was another key signal caller, throwing for 174 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Albans was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 315 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Albans' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Tyler Smith was the leader with two sacks.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 34-26 victory over Saint John Paul the Great Catholic on Saturday.

St. Albans' win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

St. Albans was able to grind out a solid win over St. Stephen's & St. Agnes when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 28-21. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
