Baseball Game Preview: Port Clinton Redskins vs. Danbury Lakers

The Port Clinton Redskins are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Danbury Lakers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Danbury took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Port Clinton, who comes in off a win.

Port Clinton took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Margaretta, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redskins had just enough and edged out the Polar Bears 7-6 on Friday. The Redskins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Port Clinton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Barnhill, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. That hit was Barnhill's first of the season. Another was Carter Crum, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Danbury fell victim to New Riegel and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Blue Jackets, falling 9-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Lakers in their meetings with the Blue Jackets: they've now lost eight in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Danbury fell to 2-1. As for Port Clinton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Port Clinton couldn't quite get it done against Danbury when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
