Basketball Recap: Wilcox-Hildreth Takes a Loss

Wilcox-Hildreth lost against Alma back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons fell to the Alma Cardinals 35-30. The loss was the Falcons' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Wilcox-Hildreth still got an impressive performance from Madison Bunger, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Bunger is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Cara Bunger was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Alma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chayse Molzahn led the charge by posting eight points. Kamryn Scott was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wilcox-Hildreth fell to 2-1. As for Alma, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Wilcox-Hildreth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-28 defeat against Shelton on the 14th. Alma will take on Southwest in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alma's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Southwest's offense will have their work cut out for them.
