Basketball Game Preview: North Newton Spartans vs. Hanover Central Wildcats

North Newton is 0-10 against Hanover Central since January of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, North Newton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to Highland.

North Newton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nicholas Bartrom, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points and five rebounds, and Ben Levy, who shot 50% from the field en route to 19 points.

Hanover Central not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since January 31st (when they won 71-37). They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 63-30 victory over Westville. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now won three in a row.

North Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hanover Central, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

North Newton was taken down by Hanover Central 71-22 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Spartans were down 37-12.
