Football Game Preview: Academy for Classical Education Gryphons vs. Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons and the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Academy for Classical Education was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-21 to Washington County. The Gryphons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Academy for Classical Education saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brayden Vincent rushed for 116 yards and two scores on only 12 carries. Vincent got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald entered their tilt with Jeff Davis last Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took down the Yellowjackets 35-21. 35 seems to be a good number for the Purple Hurricane as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Academy for Classical Education better keep an eye on Victor Copeland. He was instrumental in Fitzgerald's win, rushing for 208 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Copeland a new career-high.

Academy for Classical Education's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Fitzgerald, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
