Recap: Hopewell Vikings vs. New Castle Hurricanes
The Hopewell Vikings won the last time they faced the New Castle Hurricanes, and things went their way on Friday too. Hopewell snuck past New Castle with a 37-33 victory. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Hopewell has scored all season.
Hopewell found their leader in underclassman Maya Richburg, who scored five points along with seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Boyd, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Hopewell now has a winning record of 4-3. As for New Castle, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell will face off against Beaver at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beaver is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. New Castle will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Blackhawk at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th.
