Softball Recap: Mesa Ridge Has No Trouble Against George Washington + How To Watch

Mesa Ridge picked up another tournament win on Friday. They put the hurt on the George Washington Patriots with a sharp 18-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

DonnaPaola Martinez was excellent, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Serenity Higgins also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mesa Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Mesa Ridge back to even at 3-3. As for George Washington, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Mesa Ridge will venture away from home to challenge Mitchell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for George Washington, they will welcome Alamosa at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mean Moose have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
