Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Eagles vs. Cocke County Fighting Cocks

Seymour hasn't had much luck against Cocke County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Seymour Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Cocke County Fighting Cocks at 6:00 p.m. Seymour has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Seymour was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-55 to Heritage. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, Cocke County played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Greeneville, falling 81-56. The Fighting Cocks haven't had much luck with the Greene Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Cocke County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-20.

Things could have been worse for Seymour, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-47 loss to Cocke County in their previous matchup back in January. Can Seymour avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
