Softball Recap: Ridgeland Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Ridgeland had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 9-12 to make it six. They fell just short of the Calhoun Yellow Jackets by a score of 10-9. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellow Jackets earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Jordyn Thomas led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kailynn Bailey, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 7-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Calhoun's side, Maggy Abernathy was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those five hits gave Abernathy a new career-high. Mori Henderson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

While Ridgeland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
