Emmaus had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Nazareth Area Blue Eagles on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on six straight.
Emmaus had a senior duo take command as Sophia Freemont had 14 digs and four aces and Corrine Slivka had eight digs and five aces. Freemont has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last six times she's played.
Emmaus was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in ten consecutive matches.
Despite the defeat, Nazareth Area saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lorelai Castagna had ten assists and eight digs. Mallory Garland was another key player, getting eight digs.
Emmaus' win bumped their record up to 29-4-2. As for Nazareth Area, with the loss, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 11-11-1.
