Basketball Recap: Za'riah Jenkins and Ashtian Glass Secure Win for Austin

Austin proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 35) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sterling Raiders, sneaking past 45-42. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 33-23 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Austin was led to victory by Ashtian Glass and Za'Riah Jenkins. Glass posted 21 points, while Jenkins scored 14 points. Glass' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 21 points.

Despite the loss, Sterling still got an impressive performance from Brianna Smith, who shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amanda Scott, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Austin's record now sits at 5-1. As for Sterling, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Austin will square off against Furr at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sterling, they will take on Wyatt at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
