Football Recap: Pierce City Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lighthouse Christian last Friday, Pierce City came back down to earth. The Eagles took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miller Cardinals on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Miller's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylen Madsen, who rushed for 80 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 101 receiving yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Madsen a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Paul Nunez was another key player, gaining 147 total yards and two touchdowns.

Pierce City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Miller, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pierce City will face off against Stockton/Sheldon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pierce City will need to watch out since Stockton/Sheldon has now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Miller, they will take on Marionville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Cardinals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
