Academy of the Holy Names piles up the points against Wesley Chapel

There's no place like home for the Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 58-23 blowout they got at home against Wesley Chapel. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Academy of the Holy Names has posted since November 28, 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Academy of the Holy Names to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Castro, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Lucy Morey, who scored seven points along with seven steals.

When it comes to explaining why Wesley Chapel lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Dayla Christopher. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Isabella Stewart was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wesley Chapel struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Academy of the Holy Names' victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

Academy of the Holy Names will head out on the road to face off against River Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. River Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Wesley Chapel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cypress Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Creek will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
